Free TV In SpainThis is a guide for ex-pats to get free TV through your existing internet connection. I was intrigued to see in the local papers adverts for a company with a way of allowing users of their adsl internet service to watch the BBC, ITV Iplayers. I had already tried to view BBC and ITV Iplayers from my home computer but the websites block users from outside the uk. They tell you are not in the UK by your IP, so I realized this company must have a way of fooling the website into believing you have a different ip. The way to trick the websites is to use something called a proxy server. This acts as a go-between your computer and the website and since this go-between has a UK ip the website happily allows it to get the TV program for you. There are many company's offering this proxi server service for a fee but there are free options too. Some are of a dubious nature so if using a proxy server be carefull. The proxi service I have chosen to use is called The Tor Project. It is free and it seems stable, both good attributes (information about the Tor Project), but more importantly it is well thought of. To watch the the iplayers I had to figure out how to configure flash player to work with Firefox Portable. There was just no information out there to help for a novice like me. hope you find this helpful phil
